Hi all. Im 17, still poor at composing big and ever improving in piano/keyboard playing. I hope ill have a good time here.

Hey guys!

My name is mike and I play the Euphonium (bass clef) I started playing around with witting music at around the age of eleven when my dad gave me his old composing programs he used in college. (unfortunately, he gave up on being a music major to be an accountant :( ) From there my interest in witting music grew. I started playing piano, and playing music from one of my ancestors Francis Auber, at about the age of twelve i started playing Euphonium and haven't stopped.

Currently I am witting music for wind bands (concert bands) and orchestras with some success. My only pitfall is voicing and getting my music out there...*sigh* I have not had any formal theory training but i plan to take classes soon. I am seventeen, and a junior in high school.

Ive also written solos for my instrument because ive noticed that the music out there for Baritone/Euphonium is borring or out-of-date.

Hi Everyone,

My name is Zeynep (yes, really) and I am a composer and pianist from the northwest of England.

I orginally began writing solo piano pieces then started experienting with layering of piano phrases and incorporating effects and string instruments. I absolutely love the works of Danny Elfman and am inspired by gothic style art and films.

I look forward to getting to know you all!

Zeynep

Hi!

I found this group by accident -- but I'm sure you can help. I will be having a trumpet player and a trombone player for my 50th anniversary next month. I have to provide them with the music. My question is: Do the trumpet and trombone play the same score - or what am I looking for -- for example -- one piece is Beethoven's Ode to Joy. I'm sure this is a dumb question to you -- but I really am serious -- I sing -- but know next to nothing about instruments. My e-mail is robin@baltimorecarmel.org. Thanks ever so much. Sister Robin

I'm Uncle Dave Lewis, and 47, so not "young." But I do care about young composers and the future of music, and am a pretty good source of info about music of even the recent past.

You know, a long time ago my mother told me that, if I looked hard enough, I could find anything on the internet, even my long lost uncle. I didn't actually think she would be literally right, but there you have it: I stand corrected.

Hi everyone, my name is Jed Smith. I work as a composer in Los Angeles and play a number of western wind instruments, piano, and a variety of different instruemnts from various non-western traditions. Nice to meet everyone!

Hello guys, I'm Paul, 37, and I live in central Texas, USA. I like to compose in the medium of high baroque, a kind of synthesis of Bach and Vivaldi. I have several videos uploaded to YouTube under the same user name of "Jalapablo". Looking forward to meeting many composers with like interests, to share ideas, critique, and just have fun exploring each other's gifts.

I am not a professional musician; I am a mortician. Composing music is merely a hobby I employ to relax my mind. I work at a funeral home...and, yes, I do all those "gross" things you're probably thinking about. To me it's a ministry, an honorable service to render, and I am also a devout born-again Christian, Bible teacher/preacher, and I've preached on the streets in my city. I am also a moderator on the greatest Christian sermon/forum archive on the net: www.sermonindex.net. Maybe I'll see some of you there one day!

Hello there!

I'm Lucian Glenny, alias Power Smoothie from Britain. I'm currently in my final year of GCSE music (among other subjects ) and I've been seriously composing for only about a year now, mostly in the styles of Ambient, Trance and Chiptune. I joined the forum in order to pick up some tips about sequencing, synthesis, and composing in general.

Who knows, when I get better perhaps I'll upload some tracks

Hi everyone, My name is GelGel from Cairo, Egypt, i'm 21 years old, just took my bachelor degree in hotel management last month, i've been working in music field as an amature for 5 years now asides from studying in college and here's how it all started: :)

Back when i was a teenager i fell in love with hard rock music...the heat of the beats produced by it's drums....the power that lead guitars with all it's magnificent effects give...so the whole idea started from there....during all the hours i had spent in my home studio studying hard rock music authenticity , something came up and shifted my head taking another course, i began to get interested in orchestral soundscapes as well..with all the mighty and glory it gives u the minute u listen to hans zimmer scoring gladiator or danny elfman gives u the creeps while ur watching spiderman...and who would forget about my favorite john powell playing the bourne sequel....all those great composers affected me and made me the man that i'm today....always made me seek and explore for more and more new sounds and styles.

so i made my first track back in 2004 using FL studio " my DAW till now " using some of it's humbled instruments and throw the years i kept on getting more and more VST instruments that pilled up to 300 gb of programs with all it's effects.

So i finally came up with an authentic music style that i believe it's a complexity of lots of factors:

my main beat is usually the hard rock drum kits or the punchy hiphop grooves, mixed with the crunchy or lead guitar that i worked on, makin my own effect for them both....with lots of african or middle eastern percussions and of course huge amount of orchestral work mixed with warm pads in the background.

My curernt gear is a widnows vista 64x edition based on intel core 2 quad Q 6600 @ 2.4 ghz cpu, 8 gb of ram, terabyte disk space, 5.1 surround sound creative speakers, plugged to a creative sb x-fi xtreme audio sound card

i'm currently having around 300 gb of sound libraries varies between ewql productions and giga studios productions.

that's for my music style folks and how i worked around it for the past 4 years....about the other boring stuff like my college degree for instance...lol...well i have a bachelor degree in hotel management but i'm way far from thinkin about workin in that field...music is my life indeed and i believe someday i'll have a chance to prove my theory to the world by making my music to speak for itself:cool:.

i hope i'd be a generous member sharing all my thoughts and new styles with everybody here in addition of receiving feedbacks as a part of the community:thumbsup:.

yours faithfully,

GelGel

Ah yes, the elusive feedbacks. Also known as ''feed-backs'' or just ''apreciate your comments''. The wonderful pep-up pills that leave you feeling on top of the world!

Now $5 a bottle! Run to your nearest apothecary this instant!

My local apothecary was just put out of business and has been replaced by a pharmacist.

Hi, I am basically a classically trained piano player.

But I want to learn to compose and play songs that I hear I like.

I went to my friend's funeral last May and in the funeral video slideshow of my friend, I heard a background piano piece which was really beautiful.

Since that time I have been wanting to play that piece and can't locate the score. I have the mp3 and mid and music time score but can't play it don't know why.

I am hoping someone here might know how I can obtain the score or tell me what I am doing wrong. I used amazing midi to convert from wav to midi and use music time to convert from midi to score but music time plays it and I can listen to it but the score just is non-playable, don't know why.

The piece is called butterfly. I have the mp3 file if someone can help me get the score out of it for me.

Hi! My name is Jake and I'm a Junior in high school. I love music (duh). So this site seems like the coolest thing EVER, by the way. Anyways, I really really really want to score films for a living. It's sort of my dream. I know it's going to be hard...but I'll do it eventually. Food or not, roof or not, I'll get it somehow.

But anyhoo, I've played piano ever since the 3rd grade. Now that doesn't mean I can play any good.....I play well. Not great. I've been in chorus throughout high school. I love choral music in general. I LOVE Eric Whitacre, so if any of you like him, you're automatically in my cool book. I haven't written a ton, but I've got a few things, and I would most certainly appreciate it if it could be looked upon! haha fancy. Ok well....bye!

That's too bad. You can't get feed-backs from a ''pharmacist''. :whistling:

Hello, my name is Oskars, im from Latvia. I just graduated evening school of music this year. My composition teacher was famous latvian composer Maija Einfelde. You can listen to my music at MySpace.com

Hi. My name's Chris. I'm a junior in high school and I've been playing piano for over ten years. I have perfect pitch (which is more of a curse than a gift). I also sing and play viola, clarinet, pipe organ, and alto saxophone. I've been composing for the last four years, and I'd like to meet other fellow composers and get some critique. I wrote a short concerto for cello and posted it in the orchestral lit section on here. Any comments would be appreciated.

Hello everyone! I'm Jason... Music is basically my life. I write basically anything from electronica to orchestra syphonies. I was asked by my high school band director asked me to arrage my high school's fight song... I play in my (extremely small) community orchestra as violin and comming up I think they might play one of my pieces this winter!

I play piano, violin, sax, oboe and I sing. I've attempted trombone, french horn, and clarinet. Basically I know fingerings for these. Not a very pretty sound...
