EAST WEST and KONTAKT

Featured Replies

7 years ago I bought EW.  Couldn't use it because it HOGGED all of my power.  I finally been able to use it on this same aged iMac. However, because of the 20Gigs and High Sierra OS

It has been running SMOOTH!!!!!!!!! So Yes, I recommend EW.

Also, for 2 dollars....yes 2 dollars, I bought Majestic Horn.  It is the best French Horn so far. and for that price!!!

Kontakt is a good sample engine in my experience. I also had to upgrade my ram a while back and although it sometimes gets taxed, it runs pretty darn smooth. I think eastwest is less taxing on my cpu than kontakt, but context (or should I say, kontext) dictates this.

I think eastwest is a smart option, cheap, efficient and comes with composer cloud. However, you can load a lot of 3rd party vsts into kontakt that aren't expensive, so it's nice to have both.

I'm personally hoping that both soon go the way of the dodo.

I think the ubiquity of Kontakt is stifling innovation in sample libraries.
