QFT..
"QFT", internet slang meaning "quoted for truth". This term applies on forums and posting boards where users can edit their posts, thus the QFT holds the poster to their original statement. It is also used to express agreement with a previous poster's statement and validate its veracity.

I'll listen to just about anything, except distorted heavy metal or ©rap.

When I'm at work, my mp3 player plays classical music (ca. 1850 or younger), jazz (big band) music, and sometimes pop music from the late 70's-90's.

When I'm driving, my mp3 player plays musical theatre soundtracks (well, duh, after doing so many shows, they grow on you).

When I'm at home and not working on composing, my mp3 player plays vocal jazz music (Manhattan Transfer, the Real Group, etc.) and Ultra Lounge.

When I'm composing, silence.

I like the B-52's and Barenaked Ladies. (among others)

Favorite composers: Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, John Williams, Ferde Grofe, George Gershwin, Claude Debussy, Igor Stravinsky, Richard Strauss.

Not to say that all non-classical music is ''pop'' music, but I find listening to ''pop'' music makes my ear lazy. In fact, I've even started to consciously avoid it. When I want to relax, I just tune in to some jazz () or put on a brief classical piece.

I hate the term ''classical music'', by the way. Which brings me to...

... What the f*ck does the OP (Nigel) mean by ''non-classical''? I just realized I have no idea. :D Is Steve Reich ''non-classical''? If so, I list him. If not... well then, bite me!

Guest QcCowboy

well, he asked for a favourite "piece" as well.. not favourite genre, or composer...

ONE of mine would be Sound of Wind, from the Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles soundtrack.
