  1. Dude. My LIFE is contemporary choral music. :D Without repeating any listed above, I bet you'd like these composers: John Tavener (just died...) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8-cFRjcdU0 C.V. Stanford https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJcad_kowuI [The bluebird is BEAUTIFUL!] Not SO modern, but Durufle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=457nVpxJDkA Ola Gjeilo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J99pF91b5fQ (why is there not a good recording of this piece... GRR) Also by Ola: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5l-smZ9lUEE One of the masterpieces of his genre. I have tons of other resources too. Let me know if you want more. :)

  3. If you like the denseness of Penderecki then you might like his Opera, The Devils of Loudon. Eric Whitacre has written some very moving works, like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQBNDnrS8HY Or if you're just plain bored with choral works, check this out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2e-cSo5Y8JU

  4. I never listen to recently composed choral music except for the mock-ups that get posted on this forum by such composers as The Marvelous Mademoiselle PateCeramics. Most of the choral music I listen to is church stuff like hymns and the annual Handel's Messiah performance that happens in every heavily churched region around here. Maybe I'll start listening to some, especially if you guys give some suggestions on this thread.

  5. When it's possible, I go to concerts here, but they are very scarce... I have tons of music files in my computer and many CDs. Some times I just stop everything and listen to some of them. Youtube is also a great place for me to give some breaks from my life^^ Less often, I also play music on my piano :P For me, listening to music is essential for my life!

  6. You should compose in whatever manner you want with out the vain notion that it will gain recognition. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you can't fake inspiration and good music knows no era. I only have one rule when I compose, the music needs to inspire me and light a fire within me. If it achieves that than everything else is irrelevant as far as I'm concerned.
