Technically an unfinished work, but it's also technically done in its current state. This sketch was originally supposed to be a piano sonata, but I ran out of ideas for it after an hour of writing so I ended it on the C# minor chord and called it a day. But I've always been gravitated to it still since I think it has some good ideas. Thoughts? Go on? Leave it?

Well, what can I say? I simply love it.

The first part is very powerful with that percussive left hand and it the final part of this section with interesting syncopation. It sounds very modern, contemporary, I love this music when being modern, it's not strongly dissonant (this is something I find hard to do, I always go to the more dissonant the "better"). Many times the "contemporariness" comes in the rhythm.

And... the second part is ¡perfect! The mood is more impressionistic an lyric, a very good complement to the first part. This time, I appreciate a lot the part repeats, it's not long and it's beauty justifies the repetition. The engraving is also nice.

You know I' (lately) fond of short pieces (this is something I have to work on), so this piece sounds complete to me. On the other hand, it's also perfect to continue in sonata form, or suit... I mean, both options seem good: leave it as it is, or go on...

I notice that some of your sketches are pieces a like most.

Greetings!

Perfect!

The left hand bass notes are very characteristic and this makes it possible to compose pretty difficult melodic lines, because the piece stays compact thanks to these bass notes.
The 'recapitulation' of the bass notes in m.52 is magnificent, but this time you create syncopes so it becomes a variation.
Furthermore, the contrast between section A, which is static, heavy and march-like, and section B, which is more lyrical and light because you use the higher register of the piano, is beautiful.

To be honest, the very last note disappointed me. I feel that the dancing melody is not finished yet. I think you need to compose a coda which phases out to finally nothing.

Very well done!
