July 3, 20187 yr This tune is Mario-inspired. I thought of a 3D platform game more than a 2D platform game when I wrote this, because 3D platform games' music is less "monotonous" and more "all out" than 2D platform games (A good comparison is Super Mario 3D Land's music to New Super Mario Bros. music). I ALWAYS appreciate constructive criticism (even if it's picky). My biggest concern is the melody of the second part (which starts from F Major), because I'm not even sure if that part's melody is singing in a "happy, joyful way". It sounds a bit too over the top for a tune like this, but I tried to find a melody that contrasts the first melody, and I didn't want to make it sound too similar to it either.
July 3, 20187 yr Author The loop transition seems to sound a little stiff, so I would appreciate hearing thoughts about that part too.
July 9, 20187 yr It definitely sounds like Mario! I don't find the transitions "stiff" or whatever, but I'm not really a fan of the counter melody you have around 30 seconds. That's my only complaint really.
July 9, 20187 yr @Arthur1124 It's-a me! Someone that will listen-a and review your piece-a! (sounds like pizza) 9 out of 10 from me. The only problem I have is that "wak wak wak" in the background. I guess it makes sense in the mario games context, for they do things like that a lot, but for me it was a bit annoying, and could get more annoying hearing it as a loop. I'd cut out some of it. Other than that... great job-a! Definitely a mario- jumping around happily smashing stuff.
July 11, 20187 yr As a fan of Mario music, I find this track amazing. Great vibe. Nice slides in the melodies.
August 14, 20187 yr Author Quote I don't find the transitions "stiff" or whatever, but I'm not really a fan of the counter melody you have around 30 seconds. That's my only complaint really. Is it because the countermelody takes over the volume of the main melody?
August 14, 20187 yr Author Okay, now that I listen to it again, yes, I do agree that the "wak wak" is a bit overdone and irritating when listened over and over.
August 14, 20187 yr This is great. I love the groove, and the bass line is really funky. I definitely agree with the other comments that the wak wak is too overboard. But I really do like the variety in the rhythm section, which makes it very reminiscent of nintendo-y music. You did a fine job.

I meant the syncopation gave the percussion more variety than if it were just a straight beat. I should have said ''syncopation.'' I guess ''variety'' was the wrong word to describe what I was thinking. haha.

September 11, 20187 yr OMG IT SOUNDS LIKE MARIO JESUS, but I looooove how happy and carefree it sounds!!! but yeah the wak wak its too much but I would not remove all of it.. i would just put it there on the rhythm just a liiiitle bit .. just like 4 wak waks between 2-4 bars.. use it on the crucial parts.. just to give it a nice ambient kinda silly tone
