  1. In all seriousness, who doesn't? Also in all seriousness; rhubarb is amazing. Youtube it.
  2. YouSendIt - Send large files - transfer delivery - FTP Replacement An mp3 I made for Mitch with my brand spanking new GPO. I thought I'd post it here so he gets a bump. Listen to it, it's f*cking intense.
  3. Shostakovich ftw.
  4. In the nicest possible way you would've seemed to have posted a few sentences of utter bollocks. Care to clarify?
  5. Am I being ousted from the thread for being a guitarist? :D
  6. http://www.youngcomposers.com/forum/how-far-do-your-hands-stretch-15370.html?highlight=far+hands+stretch Yay for searching.
  7. I'm reasonably sure this is satire. If that's the case it's not very good satire. If that's not the case you, my friend, ought to be sectioned.
  8. That's a Halen song, I'm sure of it. So they're not lyrics you 'made' (that sounds a little retarded btw ;)) I think I win.
  9. If Granny's Guitar became GG, would it not be G2 as opposed to G2 (which is algebraically the same as G + G)?
  10. I wholeheartedly second Juji's recommendation. I have Fundamentals of Music Composition too and it was just about the best purchase I've ever made I think. Starts at the very bottom, with how themes are build from phrases, phrases built from motifs, and how ones develops (varies) those motifs into new phrases and so on. Then he talks at length about periods, sentences, giving practice forms for both and in the latter half of the book talks about Minuets, Scherzos, Theme are Variations, Rondo Form and Sonata form. It's a remarkably comprehensive and marvellously written book. [/schoenberg fanboy]
  11. Angry first post, impressive. Care explaining your problem a bit more thoroughly? I think you're trying to ask how to notate it or what program would allow yuou to notate it, but your wording is a little ambiguous. Keep angry, and welcome to YC ;)
  12. Could always just highlight the text?
  13. I don't know who you are but I like you.
  14. Woops.
  15. I'm in. And I'm going to write something! AAAGGGHHH!
  16. Write me that damned trumpet sonata :P
  17. I was extremely relieved Goldie didn't win; we was just waving his arms in time (and out of time) with the music.
  18. I very much enjoyed this. As well as having a clear jazzy feel it reminded me at times of some of Chopin and Rachmaninoff's Preludes. I wouldn't describe the harmony as 'weird', it felt far too smooth for that; I could detect the frequent changes of key and chromaticism but it was done incredibly smoothly and beautifully - not at all jarring like 'weird' implies. I would love to see a score, if possible? :)
  19. It's for absolutely everyone remotely interested in jazz. I bought it as a composer and not a performer and have gotten much from it, and will continue to do so I expect. Robin recommended it to me, he's a composer and a performer and he said that he still refers to it often. It's packed full of information, and extremely well written.
  20. Absolutely everything :D If it's rock there are no rules - try any chords at all, go for whichever sound best to you. If you fancy some new ideas try picking up a textbook on harmony (I'd recommend Walter Piston's) or alternatively delve into jazz theory (I have Mark Levine's 'The Jazz Theory Book' and can testify that it's effing good) Have fun, and if you come across anything awesome be sure to tell us about it ;)
  21. That may've already been done already (lols) but it wasn't a monthly competition and there is more than one short video in the world.
  22. A piece based on a mood or emotion for an ensemble of between 2 and 10 instruments?
  23. This makes little sense, care to elaborate?
