My first orchestral piece finally done! Opus 12 is written for modified orchestral ensemble consisting of :

Piano,

Woodwinds : flute, oboe, A clarinet

Brass : French horn

Percussion instruments : glockenspiel, vibraphone, tubular bells, triangle

Strings : violins 1, violins 2, violas, violoncellos and contrabasses.

and harp.

Composition consists of first part (moderato - E major/C sharp minor), second part (F major/D minor) and third part - modified first part.

Since I'm a complete amateur high school student, any helpful hints and comments are very welcomed! Score in PDF format coming soon.

So firstly, my apologies, I'm not trying to berate you or anything, but I couldn't get a sense of direction from the piece.
For example, the D minor section, it too frequently changes texture from polyphonic to homophonic and the dynamics seem like spikes to me.

2nd example, the very ending with the two mixing melodies I think could have had a lot more emotion with the 5th and a lower tonic to drive the minor-ness of the piece home.

Maybe it's the audio quality or something, but it sounded like a bunch of ideas, with not much growing or expanded upon. Perhaps it will be better with a score.

Thank you and much appreciate your comment. I doubt it's the audio quality, since I also think the problem lies in the quality of the piece. Thanks again!

Sounds quite sweet and unique but like Monarcheon said there is little sense of direction in this piece but not bad especially since i haven't even written my first piece yet.

Yes, I also do agree. Thank you for kind words.
