Profile picture purge?

Featured Replies

So I've lost my profile picture twice now, and am just wondering if there's some sort of backup system that's going on that causes certain refreshes or something.

There are more members that lost their profile picture: Luis Hernández, Markstyles.

Yes, I noticed that.

I have no idea how to take it back, but that's not very important...

It keeps happening over and over...

I think it happened to me thrice. I uploaded it back the first two times. But I haven't yet done so this third time. There is a problem that needs to be solved. Could there be some sort of hacking going on? It has even affected the site administrator chopin!

I am looking into this.

Can anyone verify that this is continuing to happen?  We did perform a major upgrade a few months ago, but I don't see how that would remove a profile image.  The only difference should be that letters now replace a default photo, to make the board look a little nicer when a user opts out of a profile picture.

I think it happened only several days ago to Maarten Bauer.

I advise everyone to update their profile pictures, and the moment this purge happens again, notify me immediately so I can report this strange behavior.

It happened to me yesterday.

Have you noticed if any of your posts were missing?  This will help me rule out an issue with the server being rolled back without my knowledge.

I have no idea, because I post so many posts here. It could be.

I will assume no then.  This never has happened during the history of this site being on this server, so assumption will be that this is a software glitch.  I just have no idea how to pinpoint the glitch.  So, as soon as your picture is purged again, just let me know!

I just opened my computer and visited YC to find that my profile had changed to the one with an L encircled within a violet circle!

I keep trying to change my profile picture back to my logo, but the photo continues to reset to a "K"...  :/

--- never mind.... I tried it just now and it seems to have changed back... strange indeed
