Tuba Concerto

Featured Replies

This is a tuba concerto with piano I have been working on for quite a while. Originally this was meant to span multiple movements but I decided to run the movements together and give it cyclic properties. The sustain pedal on the piano is just holding out on this midi rendering so it gets muddy and the 8va markings cause both staves to move up or down an octave for whatever reason even if I didn't write it like that. Anyways, I hope you enjoy and criticism is welcome.

I would have expected an orchestra with the solo tuba instead of piano. It could have been a tuba-piano solo. Nice tunes by the way. It is rare that someone compose a melody for tubas, even a nice one. Tubas are normally left behind at the bottom (on the orchestral score for brasses LOL).

As a professional tubist (US Army bands, a couple orchestras, etc.), I am thoroughly impressed! I'd love to perform this some time.

Well, I think it's the first time I listen to a pice for tuba and piano. I love the sound of tu tuba, and this work is enjoyable.
