My String Quartet #1

Hi! I am a 12-year old boy that likes to compose music. This is my first string quartet. It is written for two violins, viola, and a violoncello. I hope you will like it. Feel free to leave your opinions in the comments - every feedback means a lot to me.

The structure is a strong point, I think. Vertical structure (chords and parallel lines) predominate, which is normal when one is in the beginning. I mean, counterpoint is always welcome.

The initial motif and its variants is interesting.The thick chords that appear several times (as in 1:30) are good and very contemporary. The ascending progression from 1:38 to 1:50 is the part I like less (is predictable). The ending is, perhapt, too classic for a work like this, which sounds modern.

I am glad you liked it. This is my composition  I worked most on so I am very happy that there is someone that thinks it sounds good.

Also, thanks for your feedback. Writing the endings is sometimes problematic for me because I am not sure how to finish a piece, so I experimented a bit with this string quartet.

For you first string quartet, it sounds great! The only thing I would suggest is less block chords and maybe to expand on the theme.

That's super advanced for someone your age. I guess you're like @Some Guy That writes Music,

super talented with years of music in the family and music education from a very young age.

That's super impressive, and clearly not your first composition ever.

There's one thing I think I should point out.

A musical piece doesn't have to be poly-rhythmic, but here I feel that... there's one rhythm going on all the time.

Again, it's a great work for someone your age, but I think that you should keep that in mind.

Also it's important that you have a website, I only made myself a website recently when I realized how important that is.

Publishing on Youtube, on this site, and I guess that on other sites, together with this website of yours, will surely get you very far.

P.S I think that there's too much triangle in here, but it reminds me of what I composed by the age of... I think 15.

You have so much time to develop, use it.

I am so happy you find my work amazing and that you think I am super advanced for my age and super talented. I actually do not have years of music education and no one in my family is a musician so I am kind of a self-learner for music. Thanks for your nice feedback - I will try to use it to improve my work. I will surely use the time I have.
