October 24, 20169 yr A suite made up of sketches 58, 62, and 78. I like this better than the first, personally, since I actually studied this type of music before these sketches, instead of mindlessly writing what I thought this type of music was. Enjoy!
October 25, 20169 yr Lovely sound of the accordion in the first one. It absolutelly brings back the French movies. I don't know there, but as I am near France, we see many French movies, and the atmosphere is here. the only thing I'm not sure is the percussion (sometimes only). From 1:40 the "thicker" chords are beautiful. I also think the structure of the little piece is fine. The second soound more "modern". Bu it keeps the same flavor. the sound is again great, sometimes the chords of the acorddion "vibrate" as in the real instrument (with the proper players). Good the introduction of the piano... The third has a catchy melody, nice percussion and bass. Apart from that, the experience is reamrkable. I think the fact of going deep in a particular background (as this one) and express it in music is wonderful. In all the suite is very coherent in style, at the same time each piece is differente. Congrats! I like it a lot, and listening to it made me "dream" a little.

October 27, 20169 yr Wow. Just wow. You should try running it by some performers to see if they could give you any feedback about how well it matches what they'd expect from a piece in this style. For example, there were a couple of moments in the second (and third a little bit) piece when the guitar accompaniment could really have spotlighted some of the melodic work with a few small adjustments or changes. You're absolutely right. Some of the initial feedback I got was messing around with rhythms more, but in the way I scored it, they said they would gladly take it to their own interpretation.

I've never seen the word spelled without a "u" until now. Right. I think he just assumed that it was drawn by you, just as I didn't bother to clarify that. I read your response as having read him as saying that he thinks that boulangerie* (mea culpa) should be spelled without a 'u', when he meant pretty much the opposite.
December 12, 20169 yr Very lovely... yes it captured the feeling. excellent work. You've got a very nice accordion sound.. I might have liked the piano a bit louder.. Having been a sound mixer for many years, I notice when you have a great arrangement.. The instrument volumes are not as critical.. There seems to be a bit more sound leeway.. cause you have left room in the arrangement for them... Oh can I borrow $1400 to go to France for some crousants and coffee?... Actually we should all TREAT you... great job..
