  1. This is a piece I wrote for a competition in my area. I entered it in the vocal ensemble category, here is the description I had to write for my submission: "The poem which was used as the text for this piece deals with themes of heaviness and despair. While the music is written in the major, a mode some would consider to have connotations of lightness, it is here used to convey a sense of hopeful melancholy. The poem speaks of a weight associated with winter, and of a despair and questioning of existence. Due to this, it could be that Emily Dickinson was describing a kind of seasonal depression, a heaviness that’s associated with winter and is easier to bring to mind when your surroundings suggest it. Another reading is that she is speaking on the inevitability of death, and how that sense of despair is an unavoidable part of the human experience." Please let me know what you think of it, feedback is extremely valuable to me and I really like hearing other peoples thoughts on my music. There's a certain Slant of light.mp3
  2. Here's one of the first choral pieces I've ever completed. Feedback would be great, thanks.
  3. This is an art song I wrote as a setting of an Emily Dickinson poem I rather like.
  4. Here's a waltz I wrote as part of a collection I'm working on. Give me feedback please! This is the first piano piece I've ever put on here.
  5. Hi! Here are two preludes I've written (working on more). The G minor was written improvised and bears some resemblance to the Chopin Prelude in E minor. The E flat minor was an old sketch that I went back and revisited. Feedback would be wonderful, as it helps me improve my own writing.
  6. Alright, I made some revisions to my piece. Not everything with the MIDI version is perfect (gradual tempo changes straight up don't work), and when I tried to add dynamics my computer crashed so there isn't any of that here either. But hopefully this will at least give you an idea as to where this thing is going.
  7. This is a setting of the Goethe poem Erlkönig that I decided to write after discovering Beethoven's version of the piece. Please be constructive with your feedback, I'm very proud of this piece.
  8. Csellóduó.mp3 I am a beginner. I am found of classical music, and i always try to use classical tools to create something new, something special, something beatiful. This piece is maybe my first piece i am satisfied with, or at least it is finished. Please give me feedback, anything will do! (The first "part" is melodyc, the second "part" is based on the rhythm, and it is a bit experimental.)
  9. As the title implies, this is my first composition for strings. Coincidentally it's also my first thing in a sonata like form. Tell me what you think! I don't shy away from constructive criticism. As a note: I do enjoy dissonance, both as a composer and a performer, but I know that some people do not enjoy that in the same way.
  10. I have been assigned to create(arrange) this piece, I am worried it is too dissonant and a bit too unfamiliar. I changed the instrument sounds because it is easy for me to work with any other sound than the default vocal samples. Any constructive feedback is welcome.
  11. Hi, Just wanted to get a little bit of feedback on some music I scored as an alternative to the score on a scene from 'Beautiful Relics'. Thoughts on how it could be improved, what I'm doing right, what I'm doing wrong? Password is 'showreel' Thanks, Dominic.
