  1. One day in spring when first awoken to sunlight I was immediately struck with melodies of a tune I made 3 years ago. I decided to give it an update in wait for the sunlight weather that has now arrived! is it time for breakfast already orchestrated score pdf.pdf is it time for breakfast already orchestrated.mp3
  2. Time is eternal. As sentient beings, we often fail to understand that despite the eternal nature of time, we -ourselves- aren't. At some point, our lights will extinguish -our lives will come to an end. This is scored for a chamber orchestra of one of each woodwinds (1.1.1.1), brass (1.1.1.1), vibraphone, timpani, and strings. Compositionally, this is an abridged sonata form. The exposition lasts for roughly the first minute, the development section lasts most of the work. The recapitulation was shortened to just a restatement of one theme (with textural variation) with coda. I'd love to have some comments regarding the orchestration -as that's still an area I'm trying to strengthen. Hope you enjoy!
  3. So, one thing I like to do to strengthen skill sets is mess around and just create things that focus on whatever it is that I'm wanting to strengthen in my writing. This particular beginning is focused on orchestration. I've got the winds interlocked in the tutti chords (tonic: d minor). Following these, I bring celli, bass, 2nd violins, and viola in with an accompaniment pattern (doubled with bassoon). Clarinet and Oboe share a resonant countermelody as the flute and violins present the initial theme. Horns, in this example, add punctuation to the rhythmic motif found in the celli.
  4. Guten Tag! This is one of the projects I have been working on this semester! Feel free to check out the concept behind it at this blog post: Composition Notebook: "Morning Birds" - the story. What I am attaching for ya'll is the full score (which includes the cues for the three different flute parts, but not the actual parts), one of the flute parts (so you can see what they look like), a MIDI rendering of all the orchestra and flute parts combined, and a MIDI rendering of just the orchestra part (Titled "Three Violin Version..."). One of the flaws of the combined MIDI file is that the flute parts are made up of several short fragments/'bird calls',as you will see in the attached flute part, and the players will be improvising which bird call they play when. In other words, it will be a much more organic process than a computer just playing them all in order, as happens in the recording. I think the MP3 of everything combined sounds pretty terrible and clamorous which is not at all the intent of the piece. I suspect that this chaos will be lessened considerably when real players are performing this. If anyone has experience writing this sort of thing, I would really appreciate any advice you'd have to offer. Also, I am happy to hear comments from anyone about this piece, whether they be about the orchestral writing, the special effects, or anything else. Thank you and enjoy!
  5. This is a piano Concertino that was premiered in December by a Chamber Orchestra composed by young artists. I couldn't record the event but I have a midi rendition. Any feedback is welcomed!!!
  6. Symphony_No_2_in_C_minor_mp3.mp3 This is the first Movement to my first symphony. worked on this while I was in school this past semester. Please give me feed back on what you think about this piece.
  7. Hello everyone! Here's a chamber piece I wrote a while back. The brief was to write something in response to Gluck's 'Dance of the Blessed Spirits'. It starts reasonably elegantly then quickly spirals into mischievous chaos with an irreverent disregard for Gluck's compositional ideals! Do have a listen if you get the chance and tell me what you think! Thanks very much! Jamie
  8. Here is my submission for the Summer 2016 competition. Apparently, I like to cut it close. Feedback is much appreciated. Cheers! -- Noah
  9. I already posted this music here, but I made some modifications to attend a group that want play it. I hope you enjoy!
