EDIT: Apparently the site logo doesn't go to the homepage either!

The networking buttons (notifications and friend requests) along the very top don't work when using the forum. They just lead to the homepage.

So Chopin's oft-quoted fix of the network and the forum logins being inextricably intertwined apparently has not been realised. I was logged in via the network, then went onto the forum. It indeed was logged in there. But then I went back to the network after a couple hours and I was logged out again. If that's a time-out issue (and yes, I did check "Remember Me"), it should apply to the forum TOO if the two logins are tied. Otherwise, all we've gotten is a new coat of paint on old code that doesn't work.
Weird! I'm also using Chrome but I don't have this problem. I also don't haven't encountered it on FF but I'll keep trying to recreate what happened to you. Also, I used to have a browser that refused to keep me logged in to YC after we updated to the network no matter what I did. In the end, it was a browser issue and not the forum
When click the "Home" button on the menu, it still takes you to the Forum homepage if you're on the forums. Why was this never fixed? It should go to the root domain index of the site, not the subdomain. I don't need two differently-named buttons to take me to the same place.

Noted!
EDIT: Also, the home button/logo points only points at the forum when you are on the forum.
While I can understand the rationale for fixed-width (its not my fave), it has to be handled properly! When my browser window is narrower than the middle section, there's no horizontal scroll bar to adjust. I tired it in several different browsers and it does the same which indicates its a site problem and not a local one.
This is definitely a site issue. I tried the test site on multiple browsers and ran into the same thing you did. Elgg out of the box doesn't have this issue either. It will have to be passed on to the developers.
Thanks for taking the time to bring these to notice!
YES!
But not my avatar. Crap.

I I think the colour of "Thanks" should be changed to contrast a little better

Just out of curiosity, did Chopin start with completely new code for this site?? Why didn't he start with the code from the previous version (which didn't have a lot of these problems) and simply streamline them to update/fix/whatever?
