  1. Would anyone like to try their hand at transcribing a gospel hymn? I have a few original hymns that I'd like notated into sheet music in a bach chorales style
  2. Hi there, It has been a while since I have written any music, until recently when I have finally gotten the inspiration and motivation to continue. Here is a fifth piece in a collection of piano pieces that I am working on right now, and this is the first draft. Do let me know what you think of it. The first half was mostly written on the piano, but the second half was mostly written on MuseScore3 and I haven't played it out just yet -- will possibly need some tweaking once I have actually played it out.

  4. Back when I was into creative writing, I tried my hand at writing a fairytale set in a fantasy world based on ancient China. The story was about a young princess locked up in a tower by her father the king for refusing to be married off to a foreign prince. I never got around to finishing it, but it did inspire me to write this piece. The style is heavily inspired by Joe Hisaishi, one of my all-time favourite composers. All feedback welcome!
  5. Program Note: Each movement of this piece is inspired by and musically depicts the plot of a poem with the same name by Robert Frost. These poems tend to reflect on the sentiment of individuals as they observe and react to events taking place in nature. Spring Pools These pools that, though in forests, still reflect The total sky almost without defect, And like the flowers beside them, chill and shiver, Will like the flowers beside them soon be gone, And yet not out by any brook or river, But up by the roots to bring dark foliage on. The trees that have it in their pent-up buds To darken nature and be summer woods - Let them think twice before they use their powers To blot out and drink up and sweep away These flowery waters and these watery flowers From snow that melted only yesterday. Fireflies in the Garden Here come real stars to fill up the upper skies, And here on earth come emulating flies That, though they never equal stars in size (And they were never really stars at heart), Achieve at times a very starlike start. Only, of course, they can't sustain the part. Gathering Leaves Spades take up leaves No better than spoons, And bags full of leaves Are light as balloons. I make a great noise Of rustling all day Like rabbit and deer Running away. But the mountains I raise Elude my embrace, Flowing over my arms And into my face. I may load and unload Again and again Till I fill the whole shed, And what have I then? Next to nothing for weight; And since they grew duller From the contact with earth, Next to nothing for color. Next to nothing for use. But a crop is a crop, And who's to say where The harvest shall stop? Dust of Snow The way a crow Shook down on me The dust of snow From a hemlock tree Has given my heart A change of mood And saved some part Of a day I had rued.
  6. El denso velo (The thick veil) Wrapped in the dense veil of the dark night, the gazelle of the woods came to fetch me. Herido (Wounded) I have been so cruelly wounded by love that if my end came I would find no pain in death.
  7. I wrote some songs for violin and piano based on poems of the árabo-andalusí centuries. Yes, the arabs took Spain from the year 711 until 1492, and left a big and beautiful cultural legacy that is currently in our language and culture in general. These songs were written some years ago but now I have gone over them, arranged them and fixed some mistakes due to inexperience (I still am an unexperienced composer, but less). This poem was wrote by Abu-L-Qasim Al-Manisi in the 112th century. I tried to translate it into English:

  11. Hi, I am a young gospel piano player. I have written a few hymns(just choruses) that I would like sheet music for. I have a rough copy for 1 and a audio recording for the other two. I am looking for a more experienced composer who can either write the music for me and/or help me so I can do better on future compositions. Thank you in advance for your help.   13. Hi I like baroque suites, and the way the composers organized the dances in some sort of geographical classification: English Suite, French Suite, Italian Suite...... Why not a Spanish Suite? Is it possible. Some dances in those suites came from Spain: Folia, Sarabande, Passacaglia... I needed more dances with the Spanish flavor. Undoubtedly, many of them are touched by the flamenco "sound" or style. In fact, flamenco music developed in the 18th century, ...., no doubt it took its roots from much earlier, from Arabian and Mediterranean scales and from the Dorian mode in the Ancient Greece (which is not the dorian mode we know today). I have found some dances that are present all over the country: jota, fandango (we have some from Baroque), etc.... And some that are almost lost or limited to small areas. I want to r¡write a whole suite with this dances. It's interesting and funny doing some research and trying to put this music in the piano. The piano was not an instrument of flamenco music, untii the las past or the 20th century with fusion music (flamenco-pop, flamenco-jazz, also academic). Not easy to get the sound in the piano. One of those dances I found is the ZORONGO. This is a word almost nobody knows in Spanish. It means "headscarf", but we don't know if it has some link with the dance... Perhaps... Also, Zorongo is this dance. It includes the Andalusian cadence. And this is what I did.... Should I go on with this project?
  14. So this christmas I've been working in this small piano sonata that is based on the theme from @Ivan1791 All movements are directly or partially conected to the theme. The first movement is in sonata form and has the theme as subject A. The second movement has the theme as a baseline (4 times slower). The third has little motifs from the theme in the scherzo, and in the trio there is a fugue wich subject is based on the theme. Finally the finale is in theme and variations based on the theme. I hope you all enjoy and any feedback is welcomed!🙂
  15. This is my Soliloquy for Piano No. 14. It is my entry to the YC Fall 2020 Competition "Metamorphosis" and based on the theme of Takashi Yoshimatsu's, "Waltz of Rainbow Colored Roses", the second of his three waltzes. I have used the theme as a starting point and accompanied it and continued it in my personal style and original way.

  17. This is part of a set o pieces. In this case, these are my impressions about Nada (Nothing) as a state of mind, or experience... After being in a coma for three weeks this year.
  18. This is the result of an art trade (or collab) I did with Michellle Walker (an artist who draws). The point of the piece is to describe some kind of mysterious and nostalgic atmosphere. (I have spent more time in this piece than what I'm willing to admit.) This piece is a bit experimental from a formal point of view. The idea was to set all the main motifs of the whole piece in very few measures (basically the introduction) and then develope them in some kind of improvisational style. So basically the consistency of the work comes from the constant use of these little elements and the aesthetic of the whole piece. I also make use of recurrent motifs you can find in other works by me, like the one/s you can see between measure 2 and 3. (I hope I'm not repeating myself too much haha.) The first motif can be seen in my Memories piece and the other one is based in the same intervals as the main theme in "Gwyn, Lord of Cinder." And interestingly combining both creates some kind of mutated version of the first theme in the 3rd movement of Brahms' 3rd symphony. I got a lot of inspiration from Scriabin and you can see his mystic chord in some occasions. (At least the main harmony of the chord.) The idea was to create some kind of impressionistic piece with Chopinesque and jazz hues. And I also used a progression in measure 15 that pretty much comes from a madrigal by Gesualdo ("Moro lasso"). The best part of the piece is probably around measures 21-24. (In my opinion.) That climax and the sweet chords that descend are inspired in Debussy. Other inspirations are Ravel, Brahms and jazz in general. By the way, this is probably my best looking piano score I have ever done, and I'm quite proud about that. Anyways, I hope you will enjoy it and I'm open to criticism and feedback.
  19. Hi all and thanks for visiting my topic! This is my new cheerful and upbeat piano composition "Birthday Song" in C Major. At first, this song was meant to be a practise of some basic chord alternations, but it eventually ended up being a birthday present for my mother. The main melody came quickly to my mind when I was improvising on some chords in C major and I'm pretty sure that it is inspired by another famous melody. I just don't know which. If you know it, then please write it in a comment 🙂 . This piece was composed in a piano roll and it is possible that some chords aren't playable by regular hands (sorry for that ;)). The structure goes as follows: Intro - A - B - C - D - A - B A : First main melody B : Cheerful and upbeat culmination of A with a relaxed finish C : Intermediary theme to modulate from C to E flat D : Reviving theme in E flat Feel free to leave a comment 🙂 Thank you for listening and I hope you enjoy!   20. One of my early piano pieces. I hadn't originally conceived it as such, but after I played it to my dad he mentioned that it sounds kind of Chinese (and I realised that it does use the pentatonic scale quite heavily) so I gave it this title. Just a fun light-hearted little piece. Feedback welcome! I'd be especially interested to know if anyone has comments on the way I change the thematic material when repeating it.
  21. It's been awhile since I've posted anything to the forum, let alone really been active. Life is like that sometime. This work was born out of my own quarantine after being tested positive for Covid-19. While not exactly the main influence over the work -I'm sure it adds a little to it. The 3rd movement is close to how I envision it. I'm working on a revision to make it sound more coherent and complete. I'm not too excited about the ending -I think the material can be expanded some more. Just got to find the right way to do it. I present you my 4th Piano Sonata. Hope you enjoy!
