  1. Another prelude in my set of 24 for each key. A very short one this prelude capturing my interpretation with C# Major. short and too the point but beautiful while it lasts. please leave thoughts down below.
  2. Hey all, I am working on a collection of small pieces, preferably 5, based on short stories (hence the name). I made a rough draft of the first one and was wondering if it was an idea worth continuing. Any comments would be helpful! (Just added multiphonics to the trumpet part, anyone know if the part is playable/ how it would sound in real life?) https://musescore.com/user/20408661/scores/5815887 Thank you!
  3. This is my first composition I wanted to put on here, and my first one I will count (All the others were either practice, arrangements, or incomplete and I wasn't comfortable counting them). So I guess this my Op. 1! It is for Flute, Clarinet in Bb, and Trumpet in Bb. It is very short, but I feel it's pretty okay for me atleast. I tried to make the trumpet stand out so I put the trumpet melody in Bb first, then Eb, then in G twice. For the final trumpet melody, I made the Clarinet and Flute switch from F to G major for a nice ending.
  4. Short prelude I wrote on a theme I got while improvising. Written: July 31, 2019
  5. Wrote a short mazurka. Does anyone else know any mazurkas besides those of Chopin? Just curious if there are any other accompaniments for mazurkas besides the waltz type. Composed July 3rd 2019
  6. Some short pieces. Six Piano Pieces.pdf 01 Aeolian (Winds).mp3 02 The Hummingbird's Phrygian Flight.mp3 03 Quick Diminished Changes.mp3 04 Can We Be Friends.mp3 05 Longing Worlds.mp3 06 Gemini II.mp3
  7. This is a short organistic fantasy with many tensions. I hope it can be interesting. https://soundcloud.com/roberto-zini-84021232/organistica-tensione-1
  8. Here is a short piano piece I wrote some time ago. https://soundcloud.com/roberto-zini-84021232/intensamente-1 Feedbacks appreciated. Thanks.
  9. Here I have a short piano piece that I have termed as a 'pastel,' a term I find to fit well (especially with the heavy sustain and blending used throughout). I have had a particularly difficult time composing solo piano music; and, for this project, I recorded myself improvising. I was happy with the end product, so I transcribed the piece from the audio. Before recording, I had a general idea that I wanted to depict a color, so, to begin, I merely envisioned the color blue, and I played. Like my recent projects, I found a painting by Georgia O'Keeffe -- "Blue, Black, and Grey" (included
  10. Here is a short piece for flute and piano entitled “aquarelle,” a French term used for watercolor paintings. The inspiration for the term came from Frederick Delius (a favorite composer of mine), who used it for two of his chamber pieces. For me, the term helped me better envision what I intended to depict – a study of the sky (which itself was derived by the watercolor that I paired with the music by J. M. W. Turner). The piece is divided into three clear sections – the first and last being very similar – depicting the passage from open sky to clouds back to the open sky above the clouds.
  11. Audio might not be exactly the same as the notes. If you have the time for that, please look over the notes. I'm about to hand this piece to the quintet's administrator and wanted to hear another musician's opinions before I do so. Any feedback would be appreciated.
  12. Of Fire and Ice.mp3 A short piece that I wrote for a Roleplay I was taking part in a while back meant to capture the two personalities of a fire mage and an Ice mage as they worked and lived together. This piece starts off with only a piano introduction before giving way to the orchestra in bar 9. From there it goes through a couple theme variations before ending back with the original theme. It is approximately 2:31 long, and stays in the key of B Major. There is a tempo change in bar 15, and again back to the original tempo in measure 67. It is the shortest piece that I have comple
  13. Hello, This is my lattest piano work, composed in january. I wanted write an animated piece, inspired by popular music of Portugal, so it is very tonal probably one of the most tonal pieces I made. I would apreciate very much your feedback and I apologise for the lack of dynamics Thank you!
  14. I arranged this (with permission) from a piece a friend of mine wrote for solo piano.
  15. Hi This is a short piano piece that I wrote a few months ago. MP3 file coming as soon as I can find a spare CD to convert the wav file into an MP3! Sorry about my old technology.
  16. A small prelude written for my English class - background music for a model based on the setting from A. Huxley's "Brave New World". In this composition, I tried to reproduce the cheap and ignorant, grotesque cheerfulness of Huxley's bizarre world of artificiality. Also, I thought that the concept of all-seeing eye would fit the dystopian nightmare. The pillar of this prelude is my loose improvisation in A major - one of the most happy and cheery keys, in my opinion. Thank you for listening!
  17. Hello all, this is the first time I'm attempting a challenge, so if I'm doing something wrong or not allowed, just let me know, I rarely go here :( So, I'm giving composition lessons to a friend of mine, who is a fantastic pianist, and in an effort to try to get him off the piano, and to teach him orchestration, I challenged him to write a wind quintet, by hand, and he must start full score. So, I'm gonna give you this same challenge. Rules: -write a short piece for Wind Quintet (under 4 minutes, for Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon and Horn, no doubling to alto flute or anything li
