Fantasy_Land.mp3 This piece was written for flute and piano. I wrote this while I was in school and what inspired me to write it was my dreams. I though why not write a piece on different types of dreams you have. This will be a multi movement piece and this is the prelude called dreamcatcher. Please let me know what you think of the piece. This is the first of three vocal chamber pieces I'm working on. They're all based on and adapted from ancient Norse poems (translated into English). The Incantation of Hervor relates the story of a valiant young 'shield-maiden' (Hervor), who visits the burial mound of her father (Angantyr) to demand that he (now a ghost/wraith) give her his magic sword, which she considers her inheritance. I've never written a piece with vocals before. It was certainly a challenge to get the lyrics to match up with the music, and I had to make some minor alterations to and omissions from the original text (but the spirit of it is still there). I realize there are no slurs and not many expressive markings -- this is just a first draft. Any feedback, comments or criticism is welcome! Thanks for listening.

I would like to share with you my new composition. It was exceptionally painful and frustrating to finish, but I hope that those emotions added a bit of an artistic and melancholic spice to this silly little piece. Enjoy and thank you for listening.

I'd been thinking about doing a reduced version of a very old piece of mine, "The Oort Cloud," for a long time. I believe it was the first piece I posted here three/four years ago (which I've since deleted). It was interesting to go back through the "orchestral score" and see how much I've learned since then, and it was a challenge to keep it interesting with the limited instrumentation (not to mention the total absence of a second theme). I tried my best to use some minimalist techniques [subtle changing of rhythms and intense repetition, which is pretty much my entire knowledge of the genre ] and some more contemporary tonal and harmonic language than what I usually go for. Since this isn't really my wheelhouse, I'm happy to hear any thoughts, suggestions, criticism, etc. Thanks for listening! EDIT: Also, for those that may be confused by the title: the Oort Cloud is the outermost ring of gas, dust, and other interstellar debris that is theorized to circle around our sun at an extreme distance, even beyond the dwarf planets, asteroids and other (larger) objects of the Kuiper Belt.

Eviternity (Opus 24) is a piano monologue. Even though it has slight additions of cello, glockenspiel, and bass guitar as small ornaments to spice the whole work up, it is mostly a highlight on piano. I was not sure whether I can post it here, but I treat it as a piano work in the highest degree; the composition could be played as a soliloquy without any other instruments. I had some harmonic issues when writing this piece, so you may find slight dissonances. However, I left those unchanged in the end (I do not wish to stick to consonances all the time). This composition is also known as "the most cheesy work I've ever written." Thank you for listening!

Hi everyone. After some long months, I finally feel satisfied enough with this piece to share it. It is the second work in a collection of small jazz pieces written for piano. I tried going for a different "feel" with this one than I did with the first one. Feedback is always welcome! (As a bonus, I added a "vintage" sounding mp3 file just for fun. Enjoy!)

I wrote this for a composition assignment in which we were tasked with writing a twelve-tone piece for 2 instruments. For this piece I utilized five permutations of the original row. I've attached the score, which right now is simply the notes- it doesn't contain any dynamics or articulations. I'm still very new to twelve-tone technique, so I'm not sure I have the twelve-tone sound in my ears yet, but if anyone here has experience with twelve-tone technique I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on how I did!- 17 replies

This was written a while back and one of my first piano sketches I felt somewhat proud of. Don't ask about the happy ending to a piece about "Little Red Riding Hood"... I had it in my head somehow that she gets saved by a passing hunter or something, so it's not really like the Rachmaninov ending It has its definite problems... weird transitions, short sections, and misuse of free atonality, but I still like to think of it as somewhat of an accomplishment.

Hello everybody, I have finally finished my Suite ''Seizoenen'' for Solo Piano (Op.36). Dutch: Seizoenen = Seasons. Maybe you have already heard some movements, but I wanted to post the composition in its complete version. This composition is set in four movements each presenting a season. I tried to make my associations with the seasons as clear as possible. I. Winter (Winter): Presto animato. II. Lente (Spring): Allegro vivace. III. Zomer (Summer): Andante sognante. IV. Herfst (Autumn): Lento melancolico. My favorite movement is the Zomer, because for me the music fits my idea of the hot Summer. Enjoy the listening! Feedback would be very appreciated and helpful! These are my "Three Sententiae for Trumpet and Piano, Op. 296". They are my first pieces ever written for the duo of trumpet and piano. I sent them to a professional trumpeter who had made a call for pieces for trumpet and piano, but I never heard from them! Obviously they didn't like it and in all rudeness couldn't even acknowledge receipt of the pieces! It's their loss and your gain! I post it here for your enjoyment and feedback which I will appreciate.

This piece is called Jack's Song, composed shortly after the birth of my son. Having is a child is one of the most transformative experiences one can go through in life. This music is a reflection of all the feelings and emotions and self-searching that went on in my head during those first few months as a new father.

Hi everybody, This is my latest composition made for the Harmonic Extensions adv. assignment by @Monarcheon. Tonal music worked the best and when I read the assignment I immediately thought about sonata form. I noted in the score where I have applied the three new ways of harmonic extensions. Actually I don't really like the music itself, because it sometimes sounds so Beethoven or Mozart-like and sometimes it sounds like later 1850 music. Please tell me what you think. Feedback would be very appreciated! Maarten

I don't remember a piece for prepared piano in the forum... Perhaps there is. I've been studying and experimenting... I know this is not a "standard" to listen to. In fact, I think prepared piano deals with rhythm and colors. But I like it. This is not my piano, impossible in an upright. I tried to put some objects but it's quite hard and they fall down. Hi everybody, The last weeks I am focussing on instrumentation and orchestration. I wanted to arrange a clear Haydn sonata for a small orchestra with 2 natural horns and 2 oboes. The full name of the sonata: Piano sonata in D major, Hob. XVI: 37.
